Angry passengers ripped off Uber driver’s mask and coughed on him after being told they must wear masks, caught on camera

An Uber driver was attacked by three angry passengers after he told them they are obligated to wear masks while in the car. The incident occurred before the driver wanted to stop on a gas station so one of the women can buy herself face mask, but she refused.

The racial slurs and taunting begun even before the driver reach the gas station. The video clearly shows what happened and how the passengers attacked their Uber driver.

The situation escalated when the woman sitting behind the driver started coughing at him. In a furious manner, she later rips off his mask and strikes him. The woman even tried to steal his phone.

The driver moved in United States eight years ago and works hard to support his family in Nepal. He thinks the incident occurred because of his race.

“If I was of another complexion, I would have not gotten that treatment from them, I am pretty sure,” he said. “The moment I opened my mouth to speak, they realized I’m not among one of them, it’s easy for them to intimidate me,” he added.

Before leaving the car, one of the women sprayed the interior of the car. Uber later covered the cleaning fees.

In an official statement, Uber confirmed that all three women are banned from using their services in the future.

Police are investigating the incident and one woman is already arrested. The other women are identified and communicated through their legal counsel that they plan to turn themselves in.
