President Joe Biden has just made it easier for immigrants to get US visas or papers as he rescinded Trump’s executive order that was denying applicants if they couldn’t prove their financial ability to cover healthcare coverage in United States.
This Trumps’ order was put into effect since October 2019. The ex-president then ordered the government not to accept immigrants who won’t show valid health insurance papers or to prove their financial ability to cover all the medical costs once they become US permanent residents.
According to the White House, president Joe Biden decided to rescind this order because it “does not advance the interests” of the United States. The confirmation came Friday afternoon in an official White House announcement.
Biden rescinded a series of Trump policies and protocols since becoming president and this was the latest one.
“My administration is committed to expanding access to quality, affordable healthcare. We can achieve that objective, however, without barring the entry of noncitizens who seek to immigrate lawfully to this country but who lack significant financial means or have not purchased health insurance coverage from a restrictive list of qualifying plans,” Biden said in a proclamation reversing the order.
According to experts, this was probably not the best possible time for president Biden to announce this as United States is facing a heavy crisis on the southern border where a lot of illegal immigrants are pushing to enter the country unlawfully.
The reports say that a total of 178,622 encounters between border agents and immigrants have been reported just in April. The authorities say this is the largest number in a single month in more than 20 years.
