Four people were killed, while three suffered injuries in Friday’s afternoon head-on crash in Anderson, police

Anderson, South Carolina – Head-on collision on Friday on Highway 81 in Anderson was fatal for four people, while three more suffered injuries, the local authorities confirmed.

According to the incident report, when first responders arrived at the scene following the crash that took place around 6 p.m. on Friday, three people were trapped in the vehicles, and all three of them were pronounced dead at the scene.

The fourth victim, who initially suffered heavy injuries and was transferred to hospital for treatment, was pronounced dead few hours later while in surgery at Prisma Health in Greenville.

All four victims were from Anderson, and each of them suffered multiple traumatic injuries secondary to blunt force trauma. According to the local authorities, the victims were identified as William Larry, 48; Drew Visioli, 71; James Lovorn, 75; and Peggy Visioli, 71.

Investigators said Larry, the driver of a Ford Expedition, was headed south on Highway 81 when he crossed the centerline, striking a northbound Honda, driven by Drew Visioli, head-on.

An 11-year-old boy in Larry’s vehicle was transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries, while a 2-year-old boy sitting in the rear of Visioli’s car had minor injuries. Another person in the Honda had serious injuries and is being treated at Prisma Health.

The police said that a dog, found trapped in the Ford Expedition, was also pronounced dead at the scene due to heavy injuries.

The investigation about the incident is ongoing.
