Friday night shooting at Piggly Wiggly in North Charleston fatal for one person, suspect arrested

A shooting that took place at Piggly Wiggly location in North Charleston ended up to be fatal for one person, police say.

According to the authorities, the shooting took place Friday around 8:10 p.m. and officers were dispatched at the scene to 8780 Rivers Avenue in reference to a shooting.

North Charleston Police Department officers who arrived first at the scene immediately located one male victim inside the store suffering apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the officers’ arrival.

The investigations started immediately with questioned multiple witnesses who were at the store when the shooting took place.

The police said that clear description of the shooting suspect was provided.

A short time later, officers responded to an address on Adeline Street regarding information on a possible suspect.

The suspect was easily located and arrested without incident at the location. The police didn’t provide more details and only said they are about to investigate suspect’s involvement in the shooting.

“At this time, there are limited details and it is an active investigation,” NCPD officials said.

More details in regards to the case are expected during the day or in the upcoming days.
