‘He absolutely bears responsibility for January 6 riot’ Ex-Trump administration member hits on the former President

Former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, who was also part of the Trump administration serving as ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa, hits low on Trump in his recent appearance to CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union.”

Brown thinks that the ex-President bears some responsibility for the Capitol riots on January 6th and that the event put a shade on his overall presidency.

“Absolutely, I mean he bears responsibility. I think his presidency was diminished as a result of this, and I think he’s paying a price. He’s been impeached twice. He was impeached for those actions,” Brown said.

Brown, however, greeted Trump’s foreign policy and the response to the Covid-19 pandemic. He also supports the idea of independent commission to investigate the events, what really happened before the attack and on January 6th.

“You look at what happened on 9/11 when we were attack by foreign terrorists and we wanted to find out immediately: where was the breakdown, what happened and why. Well, this is no different,” Brown said. “They weren’t tourists. They weren’t visiting just to have fun.”

Last week the House passed a bill in creating bipartisan commission which should investigate the events connected to the Capitol riots. It remains unclear at this point if the bill is going to pass in the Senate, even though some Republicans signaled they are about to support it.

Sen. Roy Blunt of Missouri is against the forming of the commission saying “it’s too early”. He expects full support from his GOP colleagues opposing the legislation. But Brown in his CNN appearance said:

“To have a commission like this to find out who was responsible, what went wrong, to make sure it never happens again, it should be a no-brainer,” he said.

The voting for the independent commission should come soon.
