‘Incident’ closes road in Summerville, multiple patrol cars present in the area

Summerville, South Carolina – At least one road is closed due to ‘incident’ in Summerville early Tuesday morning.

It’s unknown what is the reason for the road closure at this time.

According to the latest information, part of Brighton Park Boulevard from Edge Street to Great Lawn Drive is shut down as of 6 a.m.

Dispatchers confirm there is deputy at the scene directing the traffic around and away from the incident.

Drivers are asked to exercise caution when driving in the area and use alternative routes if possible.

Multiple patrol vehicles reportedly were at the scene.

Police didn’t provide information what has happened and why the road is closed.

We will update the story when more details by the police department are available.

UPDATE: At around 7:30 a.m. Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis said a woman had been found dead outside her car on Brighton Park Boulevard. Lewis says it “appears she’s been shot” but the sheriff’s office is still investigating.
