Man killed woman then opened fire at the responding officers in North Charleston Thursday early morning, arrested and charged

North Charleston, South Carolina – The 39-year-old David Beaufort was arrested early Thursday morning and now faces multiple charges including murder and attempted murder.

According to the North Charleston Police Department, officers were dispatched to a location on Ranger Drive in the early morning hours following a 911 call in regards to a possible overdose.

When first responders arrived at the scene, the suspect opened fire firing several times at the responding officers.

When they arrived there, the suspect was found in the bathroom with a female. After they arrested the suspect, the realized that the woman was suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect is now facing several charges including murder, attempted murder and possession of a deadly weapon in the commission of a violent crime.
