Mask ordinance in Charleston extended for a month, next voting on May 13

Charleston, South Carolina – Mask ordinance in the city of Charleston has been extended until May 13 following the Charleston City Council voting on Tuesday.

Mask will be required in certain situations when the-six-feed distance between other people cannot be maintained.

An amendment to the ordinance strongly encourages masks to be worn in all public places, but reduces the number of places where masks are required.

Charleston residents are still obligated to wear masks indoors, but now strongly encouraged to wear them outdoors.

Some City Council members argued that the mask ordinance is not required since more and more people are being vaccinated and we can finally see the end of the tunnel.

However, most of the members agreed that we are still far away from the end of pandemic and the road to full recovery is long.

Next voting about mask ordinance should take place on May 13.
