Police are looking for a man following the tractor chase in Marion County Tuesday night

Marion County, South Carolina – Police are searching for a man following a brief tractor chase Tuesday in Marion County.

According to the deputies’ report, the incident took place in the area of Highway 76 near the old AVM in Marion County.

The police said they started the chase on the tractor because it “didn’t have any lights on or warning devices activated.”

At one point of the chase, the driver of the tractor jumped of the vehicle and ran away.

The tractor was still in gear and continued moving down the road after the man jumped from it. Luckily, one officer positioned his car in front of the tractor to stop it from going into traffic and causing a possible wreck.

Luckily, the officer in the vehicle was not hurt and only the passenger side of his patrol car was damaged.

“This deputy put the safety of the general public above his own safety. This incident goes a long way to show that law enforcement has the public interest at heart,” said Wallace.

Wallace added that he set a perimeter and multiple deputies are searching the area along with K-9 unit. According to him, the driver might be located somewhere in the wooded between Highway 76 and Senator Gasque Highway near Strong Arm, formally known as AVM.

No more details were released.
