Shooting in Sumter County results with one injured, police

Sumter, South Carolina – There is open investigation about a shooting that sent one man in hospital for treatment. The shooting took place at a Sumter County chicken processing plant.

According to police reports, there was an argument on the parking lot of the Sumter County Pilgrim’s Pride facility between three people.

The shooting occurred shortly after the argument. One man suffered heavy injuries, but it’s expected to recover, hospital officials say.

Monday afternoon police arrested the suspect, 18-year-old Jeffrey Laverne Green Jr, and he is charged with attempted murder and weapons possession.

He has been jailed and awaiting court hearing.
