Greenville County, South Carolina – One person was killed and two others suffered injuries in the single-vehicle crash that took place in Greenville County on Saturday, police say.
According to the incident report, South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched at the scene about four miles south of Greenville on West Blue Ridge Drive for the incident that took place around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Three people were traveling northbound on West Blue Ridge Drive when their car went off the right side of the road, overturned and hit several trees, troopers say.
One passenger died as a result of the heavy injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified as the 19-year-old Karen Jannet Blanco.
The driver and the other passenger also suffered heavy injuries. They were entrapped and had to be mechanically extricated from the damaged vehicle.
They were treated at the scene and transferred to a local hospital for additional treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
