South Carolina business owners expect good holiday season, Covid-19 potentially to rise

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – Local business owners and South Carolina officials expect many tourists in the upcoming months especially in the summer.

The state tourism may get to pre-covid levels as early as fall, Duane Parrish, the Director of the South Carolina Dept. of Parks Recreation and Tourism (SCPRT) said.

“You’ll see things sort of crescendo in the summer and have a very good summer for us. Fall I think we’ll be at normal levels. I really do in terms of tourism for the state. Particularly along the coast,” Parrish said.

The authorities and business owners are not the only ones. Most of the locals also agree that South Carolina will have a good holiday season, much better than last year.

They all agree that more tourists will affect the economy in a positive way, but most of them are worried if this will mean higher Covid-19 numbers.

Locals hope that tourists will keep social distance and wear face masks to keep everyone safe.

Booking websites also see a rise in reservations for the summer. Pitchup.com, an outdoor reservation website, said reservations in 2021 are up 21% compared to the same time in 2020.

We look forward for successful and safe holiday season.
