South Carolina drivers are paying almost 15 cents less for gallon of gas as prices continue to fall

South Carolina – South Carolina drivers are again seeing relief at the gas stations as prices continue to fall across the state, a trend that is also seen nationwide.

The national average gas price fell for the fifth week in a row, and Americans are now paying an average of $4.51 per gallon, a decrease of 15.8 cents compared to last week. Although the current price is $1.35 higher than a year ago, it’s still 47.9 cents less than a month ago.

South Carolina follows a similar trend. Palmetto State drivers are paying 14.6 cents per gallon less compared to last week. A gallon of gas now costs $3.99 on average in South Carolina, a price that is 51.8 cents lower than a month ago and $1.13 higher than one year ago.

The price difference between the most expensive and the cheapest gas station in South Carolina is $1.26 per gallon. On Monday, the cheapest SC gas station posted a price of $3.53 per gallon, while the highest was $4.79 per gallon.

There is still a huge uncertainty about gas prices in the near future, but rising number of Covid-19 cases worldwide suggests less optimistic demand for gas, resulting in lower prices. Industry experts also suggest that Americans could see a decreasing trend this week, something that might continue during the summer.
