Tuscany Bistro restaurant in Georgetown seriously damaged in early morning fire, ongoing investigation

Georgetown, South Carolina – Early morning fire seriously damaged Tuscany Bistro restaurant in Georgetown in an incident that took place after midnight on Thursday.

The incident was confirmed by the Georgetown Fire Department and Midway Fire and Rescue who responded at the scene.

The firefighters who responded at the scene said that the restaurant suffered serious damage and they are actively working to determine the cause of the fire.

Georgetown Fire Chief Charlie Cribb says flames from the restaurant extended seven to ten feet in the air from the roof.

“When we first got here we did have very heavy fire conditions,” Cribb said. “We had fire coming out of the roof of the business. We did have fire in the business. A lot of heavy smoke at the site when we drove up.”

The indoor part of the restaurant is also heavily damaged.

“It does have pretty extensive damage inside from the fire,” Cribb said. “A lot of heat damage, a lot of smoke damage.”

Initially, fire officials believe that the cause of the fire was electrical, but added they will need a few days before they determine the exact cause of the fire. An official announcement is expected in the upcoming period.

Georgetown Mayor Brendan Barber says firefighters were able to contain the fire to just the restaurant.

Officials say no one was inside the restaurant and no injuries were reported.

Once more details are available, we will update the case.
