“God did not make a mistake when he created them,” Christian elementary school teacher says she has the right to teach students that gender is God-given if schools are allowed to teach gender identity

A recently shared video on TikTok sparked a lot of debate after it went viral in a matter of days in which a woman, describing herself as an elementary school teacher, says she should be allowed to talk about God and teach students about Jesus if schools are allowed to teach gender identity. Understandably, some of the users hailed the teacher as hero, while others asked the school district to fire her.

Teaching gender identity in schools has been a hot topic nationwide for months and parents of students seem to be pretty divided regarding this question. Majorities of parents support classroom instruction about gender identity or sexual orientation in K-12 public schools, but only about a third say it should be encouraged, according to a new poll shared first with Insider.

The Christian elementary school teacher, identified as Kristan Whann, received a lot of mixed comments regarding the video before she turned her profile on the popular platform private. While some of the users were happy with what they had to hear and see in the video and hailed her as a hero, others found the content inappropriate for an educator and commented they will seek from the school district to fire the teacher.

The fourth-grade public school teacher, part of the DES in Louisiana, says that if teachers in elementary schools are allowed to freely talk about ‘gender identity’ in the classroom, then she should be allowed to discuss God.

“If schools are allowed to teach gender identity, to elementary children then I, as an elementary educator should also have the freedom to teach them about how God was not confused when he designed them,” the educator explains in the video. “I should be able to teach them about Jesus and how God created them a boy or a girl on purpose and for a purpose.”

“If you have the freedom to teach my child that they might be confused about their gender, then I should also have the liberty to teach your child that God did not make a mistake when he created them,” Whann continues in the viral TikTok video. “I think it’s time we even out the playing ground.”

Whann’s video not only became viral across all the popular social media platforms, but it was also shared by dozens of news outlets and radios including the right-wing radio show Walter and Johnson that titled the video, “Louisiana Teacher fights back against “woke” educators by preaching God.”

As soon as the right-wing radio show shared the video on their Facebook page, Whann shared the post on her personal Facebook account writing “Thank you for hearing the heart behind what I was actually saying!!!!” There seems to be a hunger for this kind of content among conservatives, as evidenced by the popularity and influence of the Libs of TikTok account.
