Restaurant manager accused of stealing nearly $5,000 from safe at West Ashley Zaxby’s location

Charleston, South Carolina Brandon Milam, 25, of Charleston, is accused of stealing nearly $5,000 from a safe at the West Ashley Zaxby’s location, according to local authorities.

According to the police, officers responded to a 911 call at West Ashley Zaxby’s location when the manager reported that $4,909.73 was missing from the store’s safe.

When reviewing the surveillance footage, the police and the manager saw that a man got into the store around 4 a.m. on Monday, turned off the alarm and the surveillance camera system, and turned them back on before exiting the store 2 minutes later. From what was clearly seen in the footage, the theft used a key to open the office where the safe was located.

The manager told the responding officers they believed the suspect was Milam as he was “easily recognizable” because of the shoes and jacket he was wearing. Milam works as a restaurant manager at the James Island Zaxby’s location, the manager also told the police.

The West Ashley Zaxby’s restaurant is located on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, which is just next to Milam’s residence.

The suspect was arrested in the afternoon hours of Tuesday. He was charged with illegally obtained property between $2,000 and $10,000 and was held on a $10,000 bond. After admitting that he did the crime, the suspect was let go from jail on Friday.

As of now, no additional information has been given. We will update the story with more details when available.
