CARTA route change starting Saturday, this is what you need to know

Charleston, South Carolina – In an official announcement, CARTA informs the public that starting this Saturday the Beach Reach Shuttle will stop at 14th Avenue and Ocean Boulevard on the Isle of Palms.

According to the announcement, the previous stop at 9th Avenue will be replaced with the new stop located near the Isle of Palms Country Park.

This small change won’t affect the connections, pickup service and time table at Mount Pleasant Towne Center.

CARTA Board of Directors Chairman Mike Seekings said this is an improvement on the route since the new stop will place people closer to POIs including restaurants, restrooms, shops etc.

“The Beach Reach shuttle has been making waves and our goal is to continue to provide a fare-free service that connects residents of our region to the beach,” Seekings said.

As we already reported at the beginning of the summer, The Beach Reach route will operate until September 6, Saturday and Sunday.

Start and end point is Town Centre and the route is operational from 9:15 a.m. to 6:05 p.m. The final departure from Isle of Palms is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. It will also run on Labor Day Monday.

The shuttle is free to use for all riders and this decision was made in an effort to stimulate the public to use the shuttle service instead of cars to lower the traffic and parking issues.

More details about the public transport and bus schedule can be found on the Transit App or Beach Reach app.
