Dropping temperatures risk for homeless, warming shelter to be opened Wednesday night in North Charleston for those in need

Charleston, South Carolina – Low temperatures in the last couple of days are posing risk for the homeless and that results a warming shelter to be opened Wednesday night.

According to Uplift Charleston that are opening the warming shelter, Aldersgate UMC Warming Shelter is located at 1444 Remount Road and will be opened on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The capacity of the shelter is 75 people and admittance time will be from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Men, women and children are welcome to stay, but pets are not.

Those will come at the shelter will be provided dinner and breakfast. The shelter will close its doors at 7 a.m. the next day.

Those who want to be admitted in the shelter but are located far from the location can use the CARTA free transportation to be transferred there.

Uplift Charleston said people with COVID-19 may not be admitted to the shelter due to coronavirus precautions.
