Friday morning multi-vehicle crash in Dorchester County resulted with two people dead and one injured, report

Dorchester County, South Carolina – Fatal Friday morning multi-vehicle crash in Dorchester County sent one person to hospital, while two others were reported dead at the scene, police confirmed.

Highway Patrol officials said that the accident happened around 6:30 a.m. on Friday in the area Highway 17-Alternate near Canaan Road.

Authorities confirmed that a total of four vehicles were involved in the fatal accident. They say that a 2010 Ford pickup that was traveling north on the highway collided with a box truck that was traveling south.

Right after the initial crash, the pickup then collided with a 2010 Nissan Sedan. A 2018 Nissan SUV then struck the sedan.

Shortly after the first responders arrived at the scene, they pronounced two people dead who died at scene.

The accident was fatal for the drivers in the Ford pickup truck and Nissan sedan. The driver of the Nissan SUV suffered injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment. The driver of the box truck was not injured in the incident.

Authorities didn’t provide additional information of the injured driver.

The investigation about the incident is still ongoing and more details are expected in the upcoming days.

The identities of the drivers were not released at this point of the investigation.

Following the crash, all lanes were closed down for more than five hours. Dorchester County Sheriff’s Lt. Rick Carson confirmed that both lanes of Highway 17A reopened Friday afternoon around 1:30 p.m.
