Two Walmart stores closed on Sunday due to bomb threats, report

Columbia, South Carolina – Two Walmart stores were closed on Sunday due to bomb threats in Columbia.

According to officials, the Walmart store on Charleston Highway in Cayce was evacuated on Sunday around 8:35 a.m. Authorities responded and were investigating the premises for almost two hours.

The store was reopened around 10:30 a.m.

Columbia Police Department officers responded to a second bomb thread at the Walmart on Garners Ferry Road. This thread came some time after the first bomb thread investigation was finished.

Experienced K9 teams and police officers performed detailed search, but no evidence of explosive devices was found at the store.

Police are investigating both cases. No more details were provided.
