Jump in new Covid-19 cases in South Carolina according to the latest Covid-19 report, more than 800 new cases added in the statistics
South Carolina – On Friday, DHEC reported an increase in the number of new Covid-19, results from the tests conducted two days ago.
According to the daily Covid-19 report, the state of South Carolina added 852 new Covid-19 cases.
560 of those cases were confirmed through PCR tests and another 265 detected through rapid tests.
The number of new cases is above the average of what the state was seeing the previous days and is 100 higher than Thursday’s total.
Additionally, DHEC added nine more deaths in the Covid-19 statistics. According to DHEC, six deaths are considered as confirmed, while three are considered as probable. The positive news is that the number of deaths is much lower compared to Thursday, when a total of 34 deaths were reported.
The total number of positive Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic now reaches 902,329 (722,791 cases with PCR and 179,538 cases with rapid tests).
The total number of Covid-19 related deaths since the start of the pandemic now reached 13,841 (11,962 confirmed deaths and 1,879 deaths considered as probable).
DHEC said that 21,853 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Wednesday and the positivity rate was 5.6%, higher compared to Thursday (4.9%).
