King Street in Charleston finally to be improved in an improvement project worth $10 million in the next decade, first reading passed

Charleston, South Carolina – King Street in Charleston is step closer to finally see some improvements in the upcoming years.

According to multiple reports, King Street Business Improvement District passed its first reading at a Charleston City Council meeting Tuesday evening.

In the upcoming weeks, there should be a final voting for the project and it’s expected to be fully approved.

If the project passes as expected, portion of King Street will see major improvements in the next 10 years.

Roughly $10 million could be provided over the decade to King Street between Line and Broad Street for improved security, beautification, holiday events and other amenities.

A similar proposal for King Street has been discussed since the late 1970s.
