Stolen vehicle crashes following police chase in North Charleston, suspect arrested

North Charleston, South Carolina – Thursday night police chase in North Charleston results with crash and arrest on Friday.

According to police report, authorities noticed a black Mercedes with a broken brake light around 8:05 p.m. on Thursday.

It turned out that the vehicle was reported stolen and deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect fled.

The suspect, later identified as 18-year-old Tyshaun James, led the officers on a pursuit that began in the area of Dorchester Road and ended after James crashed on Spur Street.

At one point of the pursuit, James reached 90 miles per hour before striking multiple vehicles and a fence. He then left the stolen vehicle and fled on foot.

While James was running from authorities, he threw a gun with nine rounds in the magazine.

The suspect was arrested on Friday.

Tyshaun James faces multiple charges including unlawful carry of a handgun, possession of a stolen vehicle and failure to stop for blue lights.

Bond was set at $50,000.
