$2.5 billion federal funds in South Carolina await spending plan, SC virus committee to offer ideas

Charleston, South Carolina – South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster asked the coronavirus recovery committee to give their ideas in how to spend $2.5 billion federal money allocated to South Carolina earlier this year.

Accelerate SC meeting that took place on Wednesday, discussed on how this money to be spent in the upcoming period to get the most the benefits for the state following the pandemic’s most deadly and economically difficult months.

These funds came out of the federal $1.9 trillion relief package that became a law in March. Palmetto State received $8.9 billion of this package. State lawmakers have discretion over $2.5 billion of that pot of money.

We hope this money will be spent in helping the economy in the state and the people in general. Infrastructure projects are also welcome.
