Calhoun County, South Carolina – Deadly shooting in Calhoun County is under investigation after deputies shot to death armed man on Wednesday.
According to the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) who is investigating the officer involved deadly shooting, the incident happened on Wednesday in Calhoun County when officers shot armed man while serving an arrest warrant.
It still remains unknown what the exact location of incident was, what the arrest warrant was for or what happened at the scene.
SLED didn’t provide more details about the case since the investigation is ongoing. The identity of the victim was not released in the statement too.
The SLED agency only described the shooting as a “confrontation between an armed man and deputies.”
No officers in the incident were injured.
According to the latest data, this is the 22nd officer involved shooting in South Carolina in 2021.
In 2020 there were a total of 49 officer-involved shootings in the state.
None of those shootings involved the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
Experts warn that 2021 might be a record year in number of violent crimes. According to them, one of the many reasons is the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic effect on the people.
