Pilot dead following an aircraft accident in North Myrtle Beach

North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – An aircraft accident on Saturday in North Myrtle Beach resulted in the death of the pilot.

David Flading, 56 years old, died as a result of injuries sustained in a crash that occurred at the Grand Strand Regional Airport at 2:00 in the afternoon, according to Michelle McSpadden, Deputy Coroner for Horry County.

According to the coroner, Flading had been a resident of the Myrtle Beach area for more than two decades after relocating from Pennsylvania.

The aircraft that Flading was flying at the time of the crash was a single-engine Piper PA-12.

Multiple units responded to the scene of the crash, including fire and rescue crews, the North Myrtle Beach Police Department and Horry County Fire Rescue.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are conducting the investigation.
