Sunday afternoon multi-vehicle crash on I-26 results with two people dead and one injured, report

Multi-vehicle crash that happened on Sunday on I-26 near Orangeburg resulted with two people dead and one person injured.

According to the police report, the incident happened just before 12:30 p.m. on Sunday near mile marker 142 and involved three cars.

South Carolina Highway Patrol who investigated the case said that a 2004 Honda Accord was traveling westbound on I-26 when it struck the rear of a 2016 GMC Yukon.

The Accord then ran off the road and struck a median cable causing debris to hit another vehicle that was traveling in the eastbound lanes.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers, all three of the victims were in the Accord. The driver was injured and immediately transferred to hospital for treatment, while two other passengers in the Accord were killed.

No other injuries or deaths were reported in the incident.

The identities of the victims were not immediately released by the authorities.

The incident remains under investigation.
